The College Editors Guild of the Philippines – National Office is in need of volunteer Guilders.
Organizing: It continues to attract new members and give assistance to all Publications withoutdiscrimination. It reaches even secondary student publications aspiring to establish the High SchoolEditors Guild of the Philippines.
Campaigns: The Guild launches campaigns on campus press freedom, students’ and people’s issues inlocal, sectoral and national levels. We work to resolve more than 100 cases of campus press freedomviolations. The Guild leads nationwide campaigns to reopen all closed student publications, establishpublications in all schools, and end all forms of campus press repression.
Alliance work: We forge unities and conduct activities with other organizations—bilaterally andmultilaterally—on press freedom, civil liberties, education, women and gay’s rights, environment,people’s issues, etc.
Research and publication: It conducts studies and comes out with publications on press freedom ,education, and other contemporary issues. It publishes the quarterly National Guilder, the officialpublication of CEGP, and Kartilya, a political journal.
Education work: The Antonio Tagamolila Education Program (ATAEP) offers inputs on journalism skills,socio-political issues, campus press freedom, and on the CEGP itself. Venues include national and localconferences and education festivals.
International relations: It seeks link with similar groups abroad and launch projects with them. CEGP is amember of the Asian Students Association (ASA).
Finance work: The CEGP relies solely on support from members. Funds go entirely to operations,projects, campaigns and trainings.
Basic masses integration: It provides opportunities for campus journalists to learn from and share theirskills with workers, peasants, and other oppressed sectors. It also conducts fact-finding, relief andmedical missions as well as numeracy/literacy programs.
There will be volunteer orientations every Friday, 3pm at the National Office located at #22-B Gen. Segundo St. Brgy. Sta. Cruz, Quezon City.
