Earistians held a protest  for higher budget in Education and other social services, headed by Alliance of EARISTians Against Budget Cut, and KAMAO Party, Eulogio “ Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) conducts  “Kilos na para sa Mataas na Badyet sa Edukasyon , Kalusugan at Serbisyo.”

Almost  500 Earistians walked out in their respective classes  to protest the prosposed education budget cut in State Universities and Colleges (SUC’s) and other social services.  And was joined by EARIST President Eduardo S. Cailllo and other EARIST Officials.

According to Eliza Joy C. Angeles, Institute Student Government (ISG) Auditor, the said cut will lead to tuition and other fee increases among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) especially in EARIST, the institution will find ways to subsidies the governments difficiency. “Dapat nating tutulan ang badyet cut sa edukasyon at kung matutuloy ang pagkaltas, dudulo lamang ito sa mga dagdag bayarin at pagtaas ng matrikula na papasanin ng mga estudyante, na dapatay responsibilidad ng gobyerno na maglaan ng de-kalidad at abot-kayang edukasyon para sa kanyang mamamayan ,” Angeles explained
It can be recalled that according to the Department of Budget Management (DBM), Maintenan ce and budget for electricity and water utility of our institution.
Also, a proposed P125 milllion budget for Earist for the next year .However, Angeles added, “Hindi sasapat ang pondong ito para sa EARIST sa labinlimang libong populasyon nito. At kung paghahatian ito ng mga estudyante ay 7 pesos lamang ang inilalaan ng gobyerno kada isang taon na maglilikha ng iba’t-ibang dagdag-bayarin at dudulo sa pagsapribado ng ating pamantasan.”
Moreover, Angeles stated,“Kaya naman inaanyayahan namin ang mga kapwa ko EARISTian na lumahok sa gaganaping strike ngayon at sa “National Day of Action.”she disclosed.
Meanwhile, other SUC’s are on series of protest actions and campus strikes against budget cuts. And on September 23, 2011, different sectors will march to mendiola to opposed the proposed budget cuts in education and other social services.###
