Education dies. Oblation statue in UPLB was covered in black cloth amid social service budget cuts as students pledge to “strike back” for the “resurrection” of education.
Education’s funeral. UPLB Students led by Save Our Education Movement held a “Funeral March” and poem reading with a coffin painted with the words “RIP EDUCATION”. They claim that budget cuts cause the death of education.
Armed and ready. Led by Anakbayan-UPLB, League of Filipino Students-UPLB, Gabriela Youth-UPLB and Student Christian Movement-UPLB , convenors of Save Our Education Movement, UPLB students hold streamer painting and mass up to prepare for the Sept. 23 campus-wide strikes.
‘Plank’ to protest. UPLB students and other sectors led by Anakbayan-UPLB, League of Filipino Students-UPLB, Gabriela Youth-UPLB and Student Christian Movement-UPLB “planked” on Sept. 21 during a commemoration of Martial Law in Los Banos, Laguna. “Plankers” oppose the Anti-Planking Bill and pledge to “strike back” to oppose budget cuts on social services.
Strike like bowling. Students “strike” bowling pins painted with “BUDGET CUT” to show protest against the impending round of budget cuts on state universities and colleges, health and other social services.
“Strike” a paint. Called the “Malikamata mobile art exhibit”, mini paintings of UPLB Kulturang Ugnayan ng Kabataan Alay sa Bayan, convenor of Save Our Education Movement, were hopped to different colleges to rekindle participation in the strike against impending budget cuts on social services.
“Strike a pose to oppose”. Samahan ng Kabataan para sa Bayan, convenor of Save Our Education Movement, launched a Facebook campaign of attaching “I psoe to oppose budget cuts” on photos to express participation in the campaign got higher state subsidy on education.
