STRIKE LEAD: PNU strikes back on Aquino’s Budget Cut
The Philippine Normal University Student Government together with the Torch Publications and other progressive organizations such as the ANAKBAYAN-PNU, ACT Teachers PNU, Gabriela-Youth, STAND-PNU and other organizations under the Movement for Quality Educations (MQE) alliance conducted protest activities as part of the campaign against the another 12.8M million budget cut after being slashed by 92.3M this year from the government subsidy.
They launched their “Red Campaign” by painting their nails red, printing white shirts with red paint with calls condemning the budget cut and flooding the catwalk with red balloons, ribbons and placards. As part of the program, the students marched around the campus calling for a higher state subsidy. The protest action was part of the preparation for the walkout tomorrow, September 23, the national day of strike against budget cut.
