28 November 2011
To all interested writers, artists and individuals
Greetings from the National Office!
December marks the commemoration of International Human Rights Day. On December 10, people all over the world will gather and celebrate the rights we were born with.
In the Philippines however, this is not the case. As of September 2011, there have been 55 extra-judicial killings, 8 cases of enforced disappearances, 41 cases of torture, and 6,108 individuals demolished under the Aquino government. This on the straight road President Aquino promised us.
In line with this, we are inviting you to STUDENT PRESS CAMP, a week-long activity for campus press freedom and human rights. This will be on December 6-10, 2011 at the Mendiola bridge, Manila.
Speakers are Ferdinand Jarin and Mark Angeles (Palanca Awardees), Arnold Padilla (Public Information Office, BAYAN), Kenneth Guda (Editor-in-chief, Pinoyweekly), and more.
We hope to see you in this event. Do bring your tents and sleeping gear for staying in at the event. This is a great opportunity for you to participate in the issues of today. Do bring three kilos of rice and at least two pieces of canned goods for sharing.
For inquiries, you may contact Gidget Estella, CEGP National Deputy Secretary General (09069357722).
We look forward to your publication’s participation in this noble activity.
For a free press,
Pauline Gidget Estella
National Deputy Secretary General
