18 June 2013
Dear fellow campus journalists:
Greetings from the regional office!
The College Editors Guild of the Philippines is the oldest existing and the widest alliance of tertiary student
publications in the country and in Asia-Pacific.
It has over 750 student publications as members from more than
500 schools in 68 out of 78 provinces and cities nationwide.
CEGP-NCR, its regional formation in the metro, holds
the responsibility of ensuring the dynamic and pivotal role of the campus press across the metro on guiding the
Guilders to grasp its patriotic and democratic orientation.
Indeed, the 2013 midterm elections would end up as this year’s highlight with all of the controversies and sights associated.
While candidates woo voters through all possible ways, the voters’ woes remain unchanged and even worsened.
Despite the much promoted economic growth and rankings from international rating firms, joblessness remain high
parallel to hikes in basic needs such as electricity, water, oil and even education.
Following the circus- esque elections, it was the spate of tuition
and other fees increases in all levels and the approval of the K+12 Law that first dawned upon us.
It is in this context that we would like to invite your respective publication to the first general assembly of CEGP- NCR for this academic year dubbed as “PRESS STATEMENT” on June 20, 1:00pm-‐5:00pm at the National Press Club, Intramuros, Manila.
It is through regular general assemblies that we discuss the orientation of the Guild and our analysis on the burning issues of the day
May we also remind your student publication of your annual membership/institutional fee worth Php 750.00.
Guilders are advised to pay on the general assembly. You may contact us at 0916.169.2346 for inquiries.
We hope to see your publication in this activity. Thank you!
