It was the P10B Pork Barrel Scam that made people doubt the policy itself, undeniably the raison d’être why people marched, blew their whistle out and still roaring for the abolishment of pork barrel. And as expected, the controversy continues to unravel issues and implicate big names in the scam, such as the contentious photo of Senate President Franklin Drilon having a party with the alleged Malampaya Fund Scam mastermind Janet-Lim Napoles and now the involvement of DILG Secretary Mar Roxas as among lawmakers whose PDAF (Priority Development and Allocation Fund) have been discharged to questionable non-government organizations (NGO’s.)
Now who says P10B Pork Barrel Scam is not just a tip of an iceberg?
When Commission on Audit (COA) reports that Roxas allegedly gave P5 million of his PDAF to the Kaloocan Assistance Council Inc. (KACI) wherein KACI is suspected as a bogus NGO, Senate President Franklin Drilon hastily answered back they should be given a chance to explain. Consequentially, what they want to do is not to answer our questions, and they will not of course why almost 179 beneficiaries of KACI denied receiving assistance worth P1.2 million, and why most of the 279 beneficiaries cannot be located, even the Caloocan officials denied that the listed beneficiaries are not residents of the city.
Indeed it is ironic how Drilon defends himself when a photo of him comes out together with alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napole and states in his interview that he cannot even recall how many times he met Napoles at social gatherings but said it was “certainly less than 10.” yet he can’t justify why he didn’t reveal that he met Napoles when the controversy first hit headlines. This scam continues to unravel big names from politics and business, and we cannot let them pass by, we cannot let these people exacerbate the once rotten system in our government.
These just show that those ruling people in the government were always allied in running the government, profit from it and rarely get prosecuted. These bureaucrats itself completely monopolized state power and this enables it to rise above all classes. And if you’re thinking that Napoles together with Roxas, Revilla, Estrada, and of course our Noynoy Aquino which ironically abolish the PDAF and not included his own pork barrel, if you think these people see the state as their private property, yes they are and they will always be.
