College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP) is the oldest and broadest intercollegiate alliance of student publications in the Asia-Pacific.
Since its foundation, the Guild has remained steadfast in its commitment to uphold freedom of expression, press freedom and students’ democratic rights.
This dedication is what continues to unite and consolidate CEGP’s more than 750 member publications from different schools nationwide.

The Guild believes that education is a right and not a mere commodity. It is dejecting for every youth that the government, despite its role in ensuring access to quality education, allows all forms of massive, unreasonable tuition and other fee increases.

The campus press against state abandonment of education
Land reform should be grounded on the spirit of social justice. It is a shame that even the judiciary does not seem to understand the true meaning of land reform, a meaning that has been distorted by years and years of deception.

“The pig is housed by this structure we call the Malacañang, and is currently the president of the republic. If he does not change course in terms of his policies, the ‘angry students’ will be out in a show of force. This administration of pigs will have to pay dearly for stealing our right to affordable education,” said Federis.

The College Editors Guild of the Philippines, as an alliance of student publications which value justice and the freedom of the press, condemns the legendarily slow progress of the Ampatuan case.
-19 months of injustice
Although Aquino said education would be his top priority, his administration has done little – or nothing – to address the education crisis.

Now more than ever, publications needed to take a firm, critical stand in the advancement of student interests amid the assaults to the right to education.

On Zaldy Ampatuan’s willingness to testify against his father and brother: Well and all, but suffice it to say that his seems to be the willingness to save his skin from being a “partner” to the crime, not the eagerness to bring justice to the victims and families of the Maguindanao Massacre.

On PNoy vowing justice for Maguindanao massacre victims: Indeed, as Justice Secretary Leila de Lima put it, this is the “litmus test” of the justice system. But more so than that, this trial will test the mettle of PNoy’s administration to seek justice for the victims and see that the guilty – especially the big fish(es) – be put behind bars.

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) had recently submitted the proposed 2012 budget, in which there was a P146.57 million net cut in the allocation for SUCs. Also, not a single centavo was allotted for the capital outlay (CO), or the budget for infrastructure construction, of SUCs.
